Back by popular demand! Dawn Mercedes!

We thought Dawn Mercedes did such a fantastic job with her first special guest designer spot that we asked her if she would come back and try her hand with some of the new backdrops and other images.  We thought we should introduce you to Dawn more personally and so I asked her to give us a little bio about herself.   We asked her to tell us about her life and her hobby, and this is what she had to say:

Four years ago, I stumbled upon stamping.  When a friend introduced me to Splitcoaststampers, I was truly tangled in ribbons, snagged on a brad, caught with my fingers on the inkpad.  While our house has boasted of its very own computer room for years, we now have an art room too.  (Who needs a dining room when we have an eat-in kitchen!)  It is there that my kids and I work on everything from clothespin dolls and Runescape posters to homework and (of course) stamping.

I’m chatty and quirky so I love those qualities in the Doodle Factory line.  My stamp collection has a wide range of styles and images that allow me to stamp according to my mood.  Though mainly, I stamp with someone in mind and enjoy choosing stamps, colors and styles that would please the recipient.  My favorite projects would have to be something more than a card.  Or a card with a funky closure or fold.   I stamp and emboss most of my line images and all of my Doodle Factory characters.  Then, I use Watercolor Crayons, which are great for shading and blending, to color in the images.

Stamping is incorporated in a lot of my life activities:  Scouts, Church functions, birthdays and Christmas gifts, volunteering in classrooms, notes in the kids’ lunches.  I could go on and on about stamping and my designs are proof of that.  Needless to say, I have found more than one hobby when I started stamping.  Not only do my cards and projects bring joy to family and friends, this adventure has led me to a lot of chatty fun on blogs and websites with many new cyber-friends!

So now that we know a little bit about one of our new favorite special guests we thought you should see what is is about stamping that makes us come back to her again and again.

Idea to note:  our new backdrops look fantastic colored but they also look pretty wonderful done as just a simple single color backdrop!

This card looks simple enough on the outside, but check out what the inside has going on:

Yet again another thoughtful detail in Dawns projects... Sliders!
Just pull the ribbon and Guaco can zoom across the card!

This is probably one of my top favorites. How fun is that rooftops backdrop in 3D!

Big thanks to Dawn for doing such a bang up job with her latest collection of stamps!

Yes, you need to do more cards, Dawn...they are fabulous. But i think you ought to venture into the creation area...can you draw images that can be reproduced onto rubber?

Wow! What a great collection of cards! I love how you add a 3-D look to most of your creations. And you do an amazing job of keeping the background interesting while allowing the focal image to shine too! I'm adding more Doodlefactory stamps to my wishlist, for sure and for certain! :)
